Solarspan's fire safety performance.

The Division of Building Construction and Engineering (North Ryde, Sydney) has conducted fire safety tests on insulated panels manufactured by National Panels, and polystyrene manufactured by Rmax, in accordance with Australian Standard 1530.3/89.  (The results are detailed in the table below.)

Fire Retardant grade polystyrene is utilised in all National Panels products.  A CSIRO report states: "... gases associated with the burning of expanded polystyrene are no more toxic than those associated with burning timber.  The tests revealed that the toxicity of EPS was decidedly lower than other building products.Toxicity Considerations of Combustion Products from Cellular Plastics.  PR Nicholl and KG Martin.
